Making a Mark - Nature Journals and Printing
Part of the Make Space York project - this session is for girls 11-18
Saturday 12th July, 10am-12pm
Rowntree Park
Free to attend – booking required
Join Christine, Rowntree Park's Forest School Practitioner, for a creative outdoor workshop exploring nature, identity, belonging and connection through handmade journals and nature-inspired art techniques.
During this relaxed two-hour session, participants will take part in a gentle nature walk around the park, collecting natural materials and inspiration before creating their own journal booklet using paper and fabric.
Girls will then explore different creative ways of capturing reflections, thoughts and observations through activities including:
• Creating natural paints from plant-based materials
• Cyanotype printing using sunlight
• Nature printing
• Drawing and doodling
• Using pressed plant materials
• Journaling and creative reflection
There will also be space for facilitated reflection and optional group sharing in a calm and welcoming environment.
Please only book if you can attend, as spaces are limited and it would be a shame for others to miss out

This workshop forms part of a wider series of creative sessions running May-October designed to help girls feel more welcome, visible and connected within parks and public spaces. Across the programme, workshops explore themes including:
• Belonging and identity
• Feeling safe in public space
• Power, voice and expression
• Joy, play and friendship
• Nature and connection
• Future visions and design of parks
The creative series is part of the wider Make Space York project and is funded by the LNER Customer and Community Investment Fund, supporting opportunities for girls to shape and connect with their local green spaces.
