Step into the beauty of Port Elliot and see nature in a whole new way - with just your smartphone! Whether you’re wanting to take better photos on your phone or simply love spending time outdoors, this event is a fun and relaxed way to explore, learn, and connect with your local environment.Guided by an experienced photographer and nature enthusiast, after a short presentation, you’ll take a gentle walk through the local Soldiers Memorial Gardens, discovering plants, birds, and wildlife. During the session you’ll:
- Learn tips and techniques for taking great photos using your smartphone
- Explore simple apps to edit and enhance your images, so your snapshots really shine
- Gain insight into observing nature closely and noticing details you might usually miss
There’s no need for fancy equipment - just your phone and a sense of curiosity! Please note, the Memorial Gardens does have steps to navigate.
After the walk, we’ll gather for a cuppa and a chat, giving you the chance to connect with fellow nature lovers in the community.
What to bring:
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for walking and spending some time outside
- Be SunSmart, sunscreen will be available for you
- BYO water bottle, we will have extra water to top up
- Ensure your phone is fully charged
Please inform us of any dietary requirements you may have for morning tea.
In the event of extreme weather conditions or a severe or catastrophic bushfire day, we will be in touch to discuss alternative arrangements.
This workshop is a collaboration between Alexandrina Council and Second Nature Conservancy. The Wellness in Nature project is supported by Office for Ageing Well, through the 2024-2025 Age Friendly SA grants program, and also supported by Green Adelaide.
