About this Event
This is a large garden with lots of different areas, many of them newly landscaped and planted in the last few years, all surrounded by hedges, scrub and mature trees full of birdlife. A highlight is the very large fish pond which attracts birds, bats, dragonflies and damselflies. There are many newly planted native trees – all chosen to maximise wildlife visitors. A walled garden where we grow organic food in our ‘no dig’ beds, and formal and cottage garden flower beds that blend beauty with wildlife benefits. Plenty of love for the soil too - dead wood piles teeming with life, compost being made, and woodchip paths weaving through wooded and wild spaces.
- Kent Wildlife Trust's 'Wild About Gardens' team on hand to give advice and tips on wildlife friendly gardening
- Specialists on hand to give advice on garden wildlife such as hedgehogs, bats, bees and other pollinators, birds, butterflies and moths, the soil ecosystem and more!
- Eco-garden centre Edibleculture stall selling wildlife friendly gardening items (e.g. bird boxes, bug houses, pollinator-friendly plants)
- Activities for children
- Hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes for sale.
- Plants for sale.
