Nature Educators Weekend Workshop: Teaching in Te Taiao | Christchurch
Maybe you want to start a Bush Kindy, Forest School, outdoor classroom or regular nature-based EOTC programme, or strengthen something you are already doing.
Teaching in Te Taiao is a practical two-day workshop designed to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to develop safe, meaningful and engaging outdoor learning in your own setting.
This is the original New Zealand version of Forest School training, developed here in Aotearoa specifically for our ECE and primary education context.
Across the weekend we cover:
🌿 Nature education in an Aotearoa New Zealand context
🌿 Planning and developing your programme
🌿 Risk management, health and safety and group management
🌿 The role of the kaiako and tamariki
🌿 Curriculum links, tikanga and te ao Māori
🌿 Practical skills including fire, tools, knots, shelter building, nature crafts and activities
Whether you are just getting started or already taking tamariki outdoors, the weekend is about helping you build the confidence and practical foundations to make outdoor learning work in your own place and setting.
