About this Event
Join us for a hands-on workshop hosted by Dana Attivo, where we’ll explore the art of natural dyeing using plant materials. You’ll learn to create unique patterns on clothing items with eucalyptus varieties such as silver dollar, lemon and seeded eucalyptus. We’ll also offer a vibrant marigold dye bath for a stunning golden hue, or you can experiment with an iron bath for soft, muted grey tones.
While your clothing items process, we’ll dive into indigo shibori dyeing! You’ll craft a set of four cotton squares, perfect for use as handkerchiefs, napkins or even sewn together to create a beautiful table runner.
Things to note:
Bring at least one article of clothing of 100% natural fibers you wish to eco-print with eucalyptus. PAEA is only providing the four cotton squares for shibori. When selecting clothing items to bring, please ensure they are made entirely from natural fibers. Choose 100% plant fibers like cotton or linen, or 100% protein fibers like wool or silk, as these materials yield the best results in this process.
We will take a lunch break. You are welcome to go out or pack a lunch.
The cost of the workshop covers the plant materials, the cotton squares and the indigo bath.
If you want to purchase dye-ready wearables, check out Dharma Trading. They have shirts, dresses, scarves and more! https://www.dharmatrading.com
Participants will receive 3.5 hours of Act 48 credit.
More information about parking and building entrance will be emailed to registered participants a few days before the event.
