In collaboration with Brattleboro Food Coop, BMAC Manager of Education Programs Kate Milliken leads two introductory workshops on natural dyeing techniques.
The morning session (10 a.m.) is suitable for all ages (children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult); the afternoon session (2 p.m.) is for ages 16 and up.
Participants in both sessions will learn how to put their compost to work by creating richly hued dyes from onion skins, avocado peels, black beans, spinach, and other natural materials. The afternoon session will also include indigo. Bring your own natural-fiber garments to dye, or purchase a scarf, pennant, or bandana from BMAC.
