Pollinators—bees, butterflies, moths, flies, beetles, birds, and even ants—play a vital role in maintaining the biodiversity and ecological resilience of the Sierra Nevada. Yet many of these species remain poorly documented, if not completely overlooked. Pollinators are vital for plant reproduction, but who cleans up after the plant dies? This talk will also touch briefly on the hidden world of slime molds, which act as crucial decomposers, employing their own clever strategies for finding food and reproduction.
