Plant It. Love It. Watch It Thrive.
Take home a piece of the garden! Our Native Plant Sale features a curated selection of native species that support local wildlife, pollinators, and the island’s natural ecosystems—all while thriving beautifully in Key West’s unique climate.
Nursery Staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you choose the right plants for your space, sun conditions, and gardening goals. Whether you're starting fresh or enhancing your landscape, this is the perfect opportunity to grow your own slice of native Key West habitat.
Why Native Plants Matter
Native plants are one of the most impactful choices you can make for a healthier, more resilient home landscape.
They are vital because they:
🦋 Support local wildlife — providing food, shelter, and nectar for butterflies, bees, birds, and other pollinators.
🌿 Restore natural ecosystems — helping rebuild native plant communities that have been lost over time.
💧 Save water — native species are adapted to our climate, requiring far less irrigation than non-native ornamentals.
🐞 Resist pests naturally — reducing the need for pesticides and encouraging a balanced environment.
🌱 Are easier to grow — perfectly suited to our soil, rainfall, heat, and humidity, they thrive with minimal maintenance.
🌎 Promote long-term sustainability — creating landscapes that benefit homeowners, wildlife, and the environment for generations.
Don’t Forget the Compost Village!
Before you leave, be sure to stop by the Compost Village to:
🍌 Drop off your kitchen scraps and support our community compost initiative.
🔄 Learn how compost works through live demonstrations from UF/IFAS Master Gardeners.
🪱 Take home finished compost to help your new native plants get the healthiest, strongest start possible.
