An Earth Week Outdoors Activity with Andra Prewett, Murfreesboro Indigenous Plant Project (MIPP) Coordinator and Kristin Hopkins, Southeastern Grasslands Institute (SGI), Native Seed Program DirectorLearn why culturing native plants is essential to a healthy ecosystem and how MIPP and SGI work to further native seed collection and habitat restoration projects. Tour the Murfree Springs native garden, and learn about the wetland ecosystem and the garden restoration project. Then help tend the garden, installing new plants and weeding around existing plants.
Dress for the weather and bring water and your favorite work gloves and garden hand tools.
AGES 12+ Participants younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
