Charles Bush from the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project will join us to provide an interactive experience to learn more about the Lipan Apache way of life and the connection to buffalo and the land. (TTBP) is an Indigenous-led nonprofit dedicated to restoring the cultural, ecological, and spiritual relationships between Native peoples, buffalo, and the lands of Texas. Through community education, regenerative land stewardship, and youth programming, TTBP works to revitalize traditional ecological knowledge and promote healthy, resilient ecosystems.
TTBP Curriculum Developer/Educator Charles Bush will share the importance of planting native grasses in a special hands-on activity. Native grasses not only support buffalo and wildlife, but also heal soils, protect water sources, and strengthen cultural connections. By bringing Indigenous land practices back into conversation with Texas communities, the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project is helping shape a more sustainable and culturally grounded future for the region.
Visitors can also explore the museum for free, and enjoy a special Native American Heritage Month exhibition on view in the 3rd floor history galleries.
