Join Girl Scouts across the region at Native American Heritage Day with the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society and Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.When: Saturday, November 29th at 11 am, 1 pm *or* 2:30 pm
Where: Harbor Springs History Museum & Andrew J. Blackbird Museum, located at 349 E Main Street, Harbor Springs, MI 49740
Cost: $15 per scout ($5 each for additional children or adults accompanying the Scout)
30 to 40 scouts can sign up for each time slot. Beth Wemigwase with the Museum created this Google sign-up sheet for Troops and Scouts to register in advance: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17ecWQYtVf_OFQksu3eSlqEZRUyMxpVHnXruoy9swRTM/edit?usp=sharing
Simply add your Scouts and contact information to a new line on the sheet. If you have trouble, reach out to Beth Wemigwase at [email protected], and they can register you directly.
Beth will send communication via email to participants prior to the event. Attendees will pay when they arrive for the event.
Scouts and their guests will arrive and meet at the History Museum, where they will be split into groups and start at one of the three stations, rotating to the next after 20 minutes.
Scouts will spend 20 minutes at each of 3 stations learning from tribal community members, including porcupine quill artist Jacob Keshick and Tribal Historical Preservation Officer Mae Wright. Each engaging and interactive station is meant to help satisfy the guidelines set forth by Girl Scouts of the USA for achieving the Native American Heritage patch.
