National Night Out 2026: Building Belonging in Kirkland

What if one of the most meaningful things we could do for our community this summer was simply get to know our neighbors?
National Night Out is an annual community-building event that brings neighbors together across Kirkland and communities throughout the country. Whether it's a block party, potluck, ice cream social, sidewalk gathering, or park meetup, National Night Out is an opportunity to strengthen connections, meet local first responders, and build a greater sense of belonging right where we live.
The Kirkland Community Foundation believes strong communities are built through relationships. When neighbors know one another, communities become more welcoming, resilient, and connected.
To encourage participation, the Foundation is offering a limited number of $50 Sidewalk Connections Grants to help residents host neighborhood gatherings. A few lawn chairs, a shared snack, and an invitation to connect can go a long way.
National Night Out events take place throughout Kirkland and are coordinated by the Kirkland Police Department. Officers, firefighters, corrections officers, and City leaders often visit neighborhood gatherings throughout the evening.
