The main vehicle in the Dance Troupe will be the Puerto Rican image of Vejigante. We need you to achieve this goal. Cancer statistics in our communities throughout the United States, Dominican Republic have increased dramatically. Likewise, a large number of young people are being diagnosed with this condition, and we want to alert everyone to the importance of prevention and early detection to achieve a good survival outcome.

The National Festival Parade in Santo Domingo 2026 is the biggest carnaval in Santo Domingo. The Ministers of the Presidency, Ministers José Ignacio Paliza and Roberto Ángel Salcedo, officially announced that the 2026 National Carnival Parade will be dedicated to the province of Puerto Plata. The main event will be held on Sunday, March 15 on the Malecón of Santo Domingo, as a recognition of the cultural identity and carnival contributions of that province. The organizers project the participation of approximately 170 comparsas and around 9000 members, including artists, musicians, dancers and artisans, in a montage that will integrate traditional expressions and fantasy proposals. The authorities, who made the announcement in a public ceremony, extended the invitation to citizens to be part of this celebration that seeks to exalt the cultural values of the country.

The main objective of the La Comparsa Rosa Vejigante Project is to educate about early cancer detection and prevention using every platform for communities in the carebean. The proposal has several additional components: an informational and educational website is already operational; it will feature a series of workshps, conferences on Vejigantes and the creation of masks from recycled materials; it will broadcast live streaming from the parade via cameras installed in some of the vejigantes; and the participation of survivors as dancers dressed as vejigantes.
