Join us for a day of reflection, learning, and honoringWanuskewin is honoring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This September 30th, we welcome you to be present and learn about the lasting Residential School Legacy, and how we move forward in harmony.
Admission will be BY DONATION
Location: Wanuskewin Heritage Park
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
10:00 a.m. – Site Open
10:10 a.m. – Opening Prayer and Honour Song with Maria & Teedly Linklater
10:30 a.m. – Words of Reflection and Storytelling with Maria Linklater
Hide Tanning Teachings & Fire in Tipi Village with Elissa Brown 10:30 a.m – 3:30 p.m.
Indigenous Artisan Market open for the day

11:00 a.m. -Walks First Song & Dance Presents “Reclamation” a showcase of Indigenous youth
11:15 a.m. – Traditional Games in Circle Area – Drop In
12:00 p.m. – Jordan Daniels – fiddle presentation and stories
12:15 p.m. – Tipi Teachings – Circle Area
1:00 p.m. – Keynote Speaker – Saskatoon Horse “Intergenerational Healing Our Gut”
2:15 p.m. – Learn to Red River Jig – with Amy Seesequasis & Jordan Daniels on Fiddle
3:00 p.m. – Wanuskewin Dance Troupe – powwow dance presentation & Drumming
3:30 p.m. – Round Dance to end the day! with Kandis Capulet & Elmer Tootoosis on drum – Circle Area
4:00 p.m. – ALL ACTIVITIES & PRESENTATIONS END

Self reflection time available on-site with our exhibits, art galleries, playground, and self guided walks on any of the 7km of trails.

The day honours the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
