Anyone who knew Nate knew how much he loved sports. He loved kids too, and even as a young athlete himself, he volunteered his time to coach and encourage young athletes.
Nate grew up as an All-Star athlete alongside his brother, under the roof of a struggling single mom. Paying for sports was only half the battle. The cost of equipment, uniforms, fees, and travel added up quickly. Somehow, I made it happen—even when that sometimes meant letting bills fall a month behind.
Looking back, it was all worth it. Sports gave my boys something to be proud of, a place to belong, and positive male role models who helped shape them along the way.
This event is being held in Nate’s memory to help make sure other kids have those same opportunities.
We are raising money to help underprivileged families cover some of the costs associated with youth sports, so no child has to hear, “You can’t play,” or go without the proper equipment because their family is struggling to keep the lights on.
