Nasi Ulam Workshop with Sendok Rakyat
About this Event
In collaboration with Sendok Rakyat, we'll discover the rich traditions behind nasi ulam—a dish built from a vibrant mix of native herbs, each bringing its own flavour, texture, and story. Through an introduction to the ingredients, the philosophy behind the dish, and the process of assembling it, we'll consider how food carries memory, identity, and culture.
As we smell, taste, prepare, and share these ingredients together, we'll open up a guided conversation around identity and belonging. What does it mean to feel at home? How do the rituals of cooking—whether alone or in community—shape our sense of connection? And what can a shared meal reveal about the people gathered around it?
There won't be a recipe to follow. Instead, you'll be invited to engage your senses, ask questions, experiment with flavours, and create your own version of nasi ulam before sitting down to enjoy the meal together.

About the Community:
