About this Event
Why veteran Care is the Canary in the Coal Mine. How vets and the most vulnerable will suffer from looming cuts to the safety net of state & federally funded programs.
Nancy Hughes Moyer, president and CEO of Volunteers of America Illinois*, works with the most vulnerable veterans, many of whom end up homeless and need to rely on a safety net of government assistance. Due to recent legislation, drastic federal cuts to this safety net which includes Medicaid and SNAP are now hurtling toward these veterans and other vulnerable groups of people.
Hughes Moyer, an expert in veteran assistance, will ask what our care for veterans tells us about the stability of this safety net for those in jeopardy in the U.S. And as a nation, do we still share a moral obligation to help those in need simply because they're human beings?

LUNCHEON LOCATION:
This luncheon will be held at The Union League Club - President's on the 2nd floor at 65 West Jackson Blvd (1/2 block east of Clark). Upon entering the ULC, coat check is mandatory on the first floor (no charge) and you will be directed to the check-in location.
THE UNION LEAGUE CLUB DRESS CODE:
The Union League Club Dress Code is Smart Casual, a relaxed, well-dressed look which may include jeans with no visible rips or tears, denim, and collared shirts. Athletic wear, tennis shoes, t-shirts or hats are not permitted.

Valet Parking is available at Union League's Federal Street Entrance (Union League Club's parking fee will apply; no discount to attendees).
