About this Event

Join us for the next installment of our love series at hosted by Cat + Hello O'Shay with featured art offering by Justin El.

In commemoration of Black August, the theme of the night will be exploring love as both a verb and a noun.

How does love make itself known through action? How does love take form as a person, place, or thing? Must love be reciprocal or is reciprocity but a condition masking as love? Is it a language? If so, how do we communicate it?
Together we'll be exploring what the embodiment of love could be, not only as a feeling, but as a practice. Love as action is reflected in the efforts of our ancestors, liberation and freedom fighters who came before us, as well as those who continue the work today. It is the work of foresight and fighting for a better tomorrow, even when it means you may never live to see it for yourself.

See you there + please don't forget your art ALL is welcome.

what is ?

naked. is an open mic night that reclaims art as a spiritual and healing practice. it’s a fluid space for community to practice vulnerability, intimacy, and curiosity with one another. referred to as "the open mic without a mic," naked. stands apart from other open mic nights in that there’s no mic or stage, it's rooted in community building and exchange and lastly, ALL forms of art are welcome.

originally created in New Orleans in February 2018, those who attend are invited to be vulnerable, or naked—free from the armor and masks often worn to navigate the world, in a space that asks:

if you could be naked, without judgment, how would you show up? what would you say? what would you share?
