La Esquina ¡Presente!
About this Event
Mi gente! Welcome to another show of La Esquina ¡Presente! This time we are featuring the incredible community of Williamsburg (Los Sures), Brooklyn.
La Esquina ¡Presente! is an inclusive space for Latine artists and the community at large to share their work in whatever form it takes, with an emphasis on featuring the activist organizations doing the work and attempting to uplift our communities during these troubling political times! We are a movable feast, finding spaces throughout all the Latine communities in the Tri-state area (and hopefully beyond!), for the opportunity to break bread across all of our diverse Latine communities with the hopes that a coalition of our people can rise up through the power of the arts.
With your host, Mario José Pagán Morales, we will be hosting at the spectacular community space, venue, and info-shop, P.I.T. (Property is Theft).During this special event, we will host a generative writing workshop before the open mic! Come early to get your spot! Isa Anastasia Rivas will be facilitating the workshop!
The community organization we will be hearing from this month is Adolfina Brooklyn, a fighting political mass organization for the Puerto Rican anti-imperialist women's movement that actively struggles for national sovereignty, genuine demmocracy, and liberation for all women and gender-oppressed peoples. They will be speaking of their ongoing Tenants Against Privatization (TAP) campaign, advocating for the tenants of public housing (such as the Williamsburg Houses) against the ongoing efforts of RAD/PACT, the city-run program looking to demolish Section 9.
Please join us for an afternoon of comunidad, poesia, música, Titeraje, and so much more!
