Our half-day DIY Beginners course for anyone who's ever stood staring at a job they think they've made worse, wondering where it all went wrong, and why they can’t do it
I promise you, nobody starts this session knowing what they're doing, and that's exactly the point.
We start with a cuppa and a chat about what's brought you here (spoiler alert: you're never the only one). Then it's gloves on and straight into sawing; within about 15 minutes, you'll be sawing like a pro. It gets you warmed you, and proves to you, that you can absolutely do this stuff.
From there we work through hammers, screwdrivers (there's a money-saving secret in here I'm not giving away for free), screws and fixings, and finish with drilling. This is all about turning a scary, oversized power tool into something that actually feels like it fits in your hand and is going to work for you. This bit will contain the unexpected highlight of the day - I’m not going to tell you what it is, but it happens every time, and always makes us all smile.
Classes are capped at 5, so you get proper attention and nobody's left behind. Nothing's off-limits, nothing's silly, and nobody gets told off. I actively encourage you to get things wrong here, because that's how you learn. In fact on some of my courses, I set you up to get things wrong, so that you know how to deal with things when you’re at home, without me there.

And a small observation from years of running these courses: men seem to assume they're past "beginner" and skip straight to our next-level course, DIY Next Steps, only to discover they didn't actually know half of what we cover here.
Women, for some reason, are far more likely to (correctly, or overly modestly) call themselves beginners. Either way, if you're not sure which one's for you, come to this one first.
I guarantee that you will learn lots of things you never knew you didn’t know.
