Free Style Chamber Orchestra Magyarország egyedülálló kamarazenekara, amelyben a jazzkvartett hangzásvilágához klasszikus vonósok, fafúvósok és tekerő társul. A 2004-es megalakulása óta Nagy János Erkel Ferenc-díjas zongoraművész és zeneszerző által vezetett formáció az elmúlt két évtizedben számos hazai és nemzetközi fesztiválon aratott sikert. Tagjai a hazai jazz- és kortárszenei színtér elismert szereplői. Nagy János és szerzőtársai (Szirtes Edina „Mókus”, Kézdy Luca, Pozsár Eszter, ifj. Szerényi Béla és Nagy Ábel Márton) műhelymunkájának friss gyümölcsei magyar népzenei gyökerekből, a bartóki örökségből és az improvizatív jazz szabadságából sarjadtak. E mesés kompozíciókban műfaji határokon átívelő, közönségbarát formában tárul fel a kortárs magyar zene sokszínűsége.

The Free Style Chamber Orchestra is unique in Hungary in that it combines the sound of a jazz quartet with classical strings, woodwinds, and the hurdy-gurdy. Since it was formed in 2004, the ensemble, led by Erkel Ferenc Prize-winning pianist and composer János “Yancha” Nagy, has enjoyed great success at festivals both in Hungary and abroad. Its members are well-respected figures on the Hungarian jazz and contemporary music scene. The latest fruit from the workshop of János Nagy and his fellow composers — Edina “Mókus” Szirtes, Luca Kézdy, Eszter Pozsár, Béla Szerényi Jr. and Ábel Márton Nagy — has grown from Hungarian folk music roots, the legacy of Bartók and the freedom of improvisational jazz. These wonderful compositions reveal the rich diversity of contemporary Hungarian music in an audience-friendly form that transcends genre boundaries.
