About the National African Student Association Conference
From April 24th to 25th, 2026, the (NAfSA) in collaboration with the JHU departments and student organizations will be hosting members in Washington, DC for our 3rd National Conference. The theme of the conference, "The Diaspora Call: Cultivating a Culture of Changemakers," emphasizes that young Africans should not only seek a seat at the table but lead the conversations shaping Africa’s future.
Centered on cultivating bold and strategic leadership, the conference will feature immersive policy workshops, advocacy skill-building sessions, and interactive strategy labs designed to empower emerging diaspora leaders to shape Africa’s development trajectory. By uniting diverse voices from multiple academic and professional backgrounds, the conference will foster cross-border dialogue, build transnational networks, and strengthen the collective capacity of the African diaspora to drive meaningful policy reform and social change across both home and host countries..
The conference will include panel discussions, workshops, career opportunities, cultural and competitive events and more with influential policy makers and leaders from governmental, nonprofit and business organizations invited.
About National African Student Association, Inc.(www.nationalafsa.org):
Since inception, NAfSA has represented a growing coalition of African student groups at 60+ university campuses across the USA representing over 4000 members. These are composed of international African youth and first-generation Americans with African descent parents. By uniting, NAfSA members can be empowered to become leaders for the progress of the African continent and their communities. The opportunities and resources NAfSA works to provide will ensure they excel either socially, culturally, academically, and/or professionally. We pride ourselves with how intentional we are in our events and initiatives, where we focus on 5 core tenets: chapter development, career development, cultural awareness, transition assistance, and community service.
