TWO DAY COURSE
10am - 3pm Thurs 26 September &
12pm - 5pm Sat 28 September 2024
This workshop provides an exceptional and rare opportunity for Townsville youth to engage with the highly specialised printmaking practice of lithography. The two-day course is an introduction to the fundamentals of the lithographic process and is designed for youth with a strong interest in developing their artistic skills. Under the guidance of a local artist Margaret Robertson, attendees will create an image by drawing directly onto the surface of a lithographic limestone. Participants will learn how to use drawing media such as crayon and tusche to achieve varied marks, washes and tones. Facilitators will assist attendees to prepare the stone for printing by applying an etch and to use Umbrella’s lithography press to produce an edition of prints. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore polyester plate lithography during the course of the workshop.
