Explore the alternative photographic technique of cyanotype printing in The Studio. In this workshop participants will learn how to create photographic images by placing objects directly onto light sensitive paper. Attendees will explore using daylight to make a set of cyan-blue cyanotype prints. Participants should bring a selection of items to the workshop that have interesting silhouettes. Objects that lie flat and have varying opacity, such as feathers and botanical material will create effective cyanotype prints. There will also be a variety of suitable objects provided to experiment with. This workshop is suitable for beginners, and attendees will be guided through every step of the process.
What to bring:
Wear closed in shoes
Selection of objects

Limited to 10 spaces (ages 15-21) | Bookings close on the Friday prior to the Workshop Day at 4pm. | The workshops will take place in Umbrella’s downstairs studio at 408 Flinders St (next to Mary Who? ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kerrie Everett Horrocks is an artist, dive instructor and educator based in Gurambilbarra / Townsville. Having been immersed in the waters off the Queensland coast her entire life (amongst a family of ocean lovers) and creating art for as long as she can remember, her passions have become naturally intertwined in recent years. After completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts at James Cook University in Townsville, Kerrie continued her studies in Underwater Archaeology, Art History and Education while diving with Adrenalin Snorkel and Dive. She has been a teacher and dive instructor for over a decade and brings the excitement of diving the Great Barrier Reef to many of her artworks. Kerrie is a member of Umbrella’s studio access group, and her recent work has spanned printmaking, painting, textiles and drawing.
