The performance will also feature dynamic works by three talented local guest choreographers. These pieces, inspired by folklore and legends from diverse cultures, blend an array of dance styles beyond classical ballet, offering a vibrant showcase of creativity and versatility within the local dance community. Complementing the choreography will be a premiere of original music by composer Miguel López, adding a new layer of depth and emotion to the production.
Audiences can look forward to an evening of storytelling through dance, where myth and culture converge to ignite the imagination.
"Audiences will experience a captivating blend of Modern, Contemporary, and Jazz dance in Myths, Legends and Folklore," said Kylie Casino, Artistic Director for the production. "With stunning works by our guest choreographers, Zoe Otto, Kyle Kahn, and Emma O'Connell, this show brings mythical stories to life through powerful movement. While different from the Classical Ballet showcased in The Nutcracker, attendees can still expect emotional, passionate, high-quality dance that resonates with both seasoned theatergoers and those new to the art form. It's an unforgettable journey into the heart of storytelling through movement."
The performance will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, 7:00 P.M. at the Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts in Columbus, Georgia. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online or at the door. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit https://www.thecolumbusballet.org/20242025-season.
