About this Event
Mythos and Tales is a new project exploring the space between folklore, jazz, improvisation, and electronic music. Drawing from Greek mythology, Chinese and Japanese folklore, Nordic and Celtic stories, the music looks at themes of resilience, grief, home, family, regret, forgiveness, and acceptance. A big influence is Homer’s Odyssey and its ideas around perseverance, identity, longing, and finding your way home.
The music is heavily inspired by artists like Yussef Dayes and Moses Yoofee, with hypnotic grooves, ambient textures, synths, and long builds that allow each piece to develop and change over time.
The project is led by drummer and composer Joel Jeschke, whose debut album Time & Place reached #1 on the Earshot National Jazz Radio Charts in 2025. He was also awarded the 2025 Western Canadian Music Award for Instrumental Artist of the Year.
