Myth & Mantra: Saraswati at West Asheville Yoga
In Myth & Mantra, we will explore Saraswati’s origin myth and practice a fully embodied mantra meditation technique called ajapa japa.
The Sanskrit word japa means “repeating or muttering a prayer or mantra”. The letter A in front of the word japa means “without.” Ajapa japa is the practice of japa without the mental effort normally needed to repeat a mantra.
Through Saraswati’s ancient myth and mantra meditation we will learn about and connect with this Hindu Goddess of music, language, wisdom and insight. Her qualities are available to us when we need inspiration, clarity of mind and confidence with speaking or writing.
No experience necessary. Printed versions of the mantra will be provided and pronunciation will be reviewed. All are welcome.
