About this Event

Join My Sister's Place DC's oldest domestic violence shelter for The Clothesline Project DC, a free community gathering during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

On Saturday, October 24th, we invite survivors, allies, and neighbors to Alethia Tanner Park for an afternoon of art, healing, and solidarity. The centerpiece of our event is the Clothesline Project: participants decorate T-shirts with messages of strength and remembrance that are displayed on a clothesline throughout the day, creating a living tribute to everyone touched by domestic violence.

This is a free, family-friendly event and all are welcome.

What to expect

  • Create and display your own Clothesline Project t-shirt
  • Face painting and a coloring station for kids
  • Outdoor activities
  • Connect with community resource organizations
  • Opening and closing remarks from our leadership
