My Pek Kio Heritage Tour [English] (4 Oct 2025)

My Pek Kio Heritage Tour follows the footsteps of the English settlers who transformed this once hot and humid corner of Singapore into a “Little England” where century-old churches, temples and mosques have coexisted harmoniously for generations. Historical landmarks and religious institutions in Pek Kio include Red Swastika Society, Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Leong San See and Christ Church.

As the “sporting capital of Singapore”, Pek Kio hosted the island’s first horse race in 1843, the first golf course Royal Singapore Golf Course in 1913, the first neighbourhood sports centre Farrer Park Athletic Centre in the 1950s. Many national sporting icons including Ang Peng Siong and Quah Kim Song have trained in the fields and pools in Pek Kio.

This tour includes an exclusive visit to Kim Mui Hoey Kuan.

Who should come?

• Everyone is welcome to participate in this tour.

Duration and Meeting Point

• Approximate Duration: 3 hours (8.30am to 11.30am)
• Meeting Point: Little India MRT Station (Exit B Street Level) - Please arrive at Little India at 8:15am, 15 minutes before the start of the tour for registration.
• Ending Point: Farrer Park MRT Station
• This tour will proceed rain or shine

What to wear and bring?

• Wear suitable shoes and comfortable clothes that covers your shoulders and knees (as we will be entering places of worship).
• Bring along hand sanitiser, insect repellent, EZ-Link card, a bottle of water and an umbrella.
• If you have earphones with a standard 3.5mm audio jack, please bring them along (for radio guides during the tour).
• Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.

Other important information

• Please do not sign up for the tour if you are unsure of your schedule. Our volunteers have committed their time to this tour - Your absence is discouraging our volunteers from organising any physical tours.
• You must cancel this ticket if you were unwell and could not turn up.
• Participants will be banned permanently for failing to turn up for your tour.
• Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour for registration.
