𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: River Phoenix gives a sensitive, captivating performance as a narcoleptic street hustler in search of his absent mother. His best friend, played by Keanu Reeves, shares the same line of work, but has a more prosperous road laid out for his future. Together, the two navigate the tumultuous streets of the Pacific Northwest. Influenced by Shakespeare’s “Henriad,” MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO is a haunting and visually stunning tale from director Gus Van Sant that captures a queer romance on the margins of society.
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿: Michael Dickman was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He is the author of five books of poetry, most recently Pacific Power & LIght published by Knopf in 2024. He has taught creative writing at NYU, Columbia University, and Princeton University. He also appeared alongside his twin brother as a pre-cog in Steven Spielberg's 2002 film Minority Report.
