My Journey with Stone, Exhibition by Deborah Harrison

Deborah’s solo sculpture exhibition celebrates a decade of being a stone sculptor in Gloucester. It is fitting that it is held at Llanthony Secunda Priory, where her fulltime stone carving journey began, after the Gloucester Stone Carving Festival in 2015. She later went on to study stone masonry for a year at Bath City College. She is profoundly grateful to so many people for their support, especially in Gloucester, as she has grown in reputation after carving over 125 pieces and winning 6 prizes or awards to date.
In 2023, Deborah was funded by local individuals and businesses, through the priory, to carve a commission of a stone lamprey pie as a coronation gift from Gloucester to King Charles III. It was presented at Highgrove Gardens in 2025 (the King and Queens private residence) building on a centuries long tradition of Gloucester gifting a lamprey pie to the monarch on special occasions.
She is a founder member of Gloucester contemporary Artists and the Cotswold Sculptors Association. Some of her notable sales have been to the Gloucestershire NHS Trust, Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, and Sir Malcolm Evans former chair of the UN anti-torture committee. Deborah carves all kinds of stone, but she is best known for her alabaster sculptures. Her carving technique follows the rock's form, grain and colour to release the image she sees within the stone. Deborah has exhibited across the UK and sold to Europe and the USA.
