About this Event

Every child has big feelings.

The meltdown before school. The fear of starting something new. The sadness they cannot put into words yet. The jealousy about a new sibling. The loneliness that shows up even in a crowded room.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do as a parent is hand them the right book. Or sit with them through a mindfulness card deck. Or give them a set of art supplies and an hour of unstructured time.

Books for Big Feelings Pop-Up is a free monthly shopping event at My Good Brain's creative studio at Liberty Station — every Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 PM. Every item in our collection has been hand-selected by a licensed clinical psychologist for its ability to help children and teens feel seen, build vocabulary for their inner world, and find healthy ways to express what is happening inside.

No algorithms. No guessing. Just things that work.

What you'll find:

  • Picture books for your littlest readers (ages 2–6) covering feelings, friendship, courage, and calm
  • Mindfulness and yoga card decks designed for kids — great for home, the classroom, or the car
  • Art kits for children of all ages, curated to spark creative expression and emotional exploration
  • Mental wellness-themed stickers that make feelings fun and accessible for young people
  • Art prints that bring a grounding, uplifting presence into any child's space
  • Staff picks each month with a handwritten note on why each item was chosen

Free to attend. Bring the kids. Bring a friend.

Every purchase directly supports My Good Brain's free and low-cost arts and wellness programming for San Diego youth — including the Tool Kit Program, which delivers art kits to students at Title I schools throughout the county.
