"The key of F# holds special meaning for the composers who choose to take the extra time to write in numerous "#" signs all over the score. Why do they do it? Back in Baroque times, the tuning evolved around common keys like C major, and exotic keys were rare. Choosing this exotic key, which includes most of the black keys on a piano keyboard, makes a statement. It’s intimate, it’s illuminating, it’s sparkling, it’s sophisticated. It’s anything but generic!
"In our times of global uncertainty, of social media destroying our attention spans, of public conversation having to tiptoe around politics and religion and the things that matter to us, we need our favorite things to keep us going.
