'My Boy Jack' by David Haig

David Haig's acclaimed play 'My Boy Jack' tells the true story of Rudyard Kipling and his son John "Jack" Kipling, whose determination to serve in the First World War draws the family into a devastating struggle shaped by duty, patriotism, grief and guilt. Tender, funny and heart-breaking, 'My Boy Jack' moves beyond stories of battlefield heroism to explore the intimate human cost of war through the eyes of one family, asking what remains when public narratives of honour and sacrifice give way to private loss. More than a century after the events it depicts, My Boy Jack serves as a powerful reminder that behind every name carved on a memorial lies a family left to mourn.
