My 1st Ride 2024

School Bus Orientation

The Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic School District, First Student Canada and Southland Transportation Ltd. are pleased to offer an annual school bus orientation program for first-time riders and their parents, called My 1st Ride.

Sessions are free but participants must register in advance. Please select one ticket per student. Parents and siblings do not require a ticket. Spots are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The program consists of a 20-minute presentation followed by a short ride on a school bus and a drama presentation. After the bus ride, students are invited back to the school gym to visit the service provider's booths. Each new rider will also be given a certificate of completion.

Staff from both school boards, as well as Southland and First Student bus companies are available for information and questions.

The sessions run every half hour between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Each session takes approximately 60 minutes.
