MWRD Stormwater Workshop 9/10/26
About this Event
Join us on one of three dates: August 26 (Palos Heights), September 2 (North Riverside) or September 10 (Mount Prospect) to learn about our Stormwater Partnership programs and tour a project on site.
During each workshop, a select number of individual sessions with an MWRD stormwater engineer will be available. Sign up for an "add-on" ticket for a one-on-one 30 minute session.
Who should attend?
We recommend the following representatives attend:
· An elected official or municipal administrator,
· Public works or engineering director,
· Municipal engineer or public works staff,
· Other staff involved in capital improvements or stormwater management
What should we prepare?
For those interested in a personalized session, to make the most of our 30-minute meeting, please consider the following questions in advance:
· What are your community’s priority capital improvement projects over the next 5 years? (Examples include roadway, utility, public facility, and stormwater projects.)
· What capital improvement projects are other local agencies, such as park districts or school districts, planning within your community?
· How does your community plan, prioritize, and fund capital improvement projects, including stormwater improvements?
· What areas in your community experience flooding and/or streambank erosion?
· What experience does your public works department (or contracted services) have with the operation and maintenance of stormwater installations?
· What additional resources (including technical assistance, education, or outreach) would help support your community’s goals?
What documentation should we bring?
While these initial meetings are focused on high-level discussion, the following documents can help guide our conversation:
· List of capital improvement projects including location, project description, cost, and schedule,
· Map identifying areas that experience flooding and/or streambank erosion,
· A listing of recent planning and engineering documents including planning studies, design reports, hydraulic & hydrologic modeling, maps of existing sewer/stormwater infrastructure, etc., and
· A list of questions for ongoing items or feedback in regards to MWRD’s programs, including:
o Stormwater Partnerships,
o Small Streams Maintenance Program, and
o Permitting under the Watershed Management Ordinance
MWRD will follow up if additional information is needed.
