MWAA FIRE & EMS Department Hiring Event - Thursday, February 26, 2026

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is hosting a FIRE & EMS department hiring event on:

• Date: Thursday, February 26, 2026
• Time: This event starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. and allows candidates to complete multiple steps of the application process in one day. We encourage you to arrive early.
• Location: Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Fire & EMS Headquarters; 45045 Aviation Drive, Sterling, VA, 20166

This event starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. and allows candidates to complete multiple steps of the application process in one day.

• Firefighter Written Exam – The written exam used is the Firefighter Selection Test.
• Work Performance Evaluation Exam (WPE): Please bring a full set of gear which includes bunker pants, jacket, helmet, gloves, and boots (excluding SCBA and mask). We can assist with providing gear, if needed.
• Interview Panel – Three members from our public safety department will interview candidates who successfully pass both the written exam and WPE.

Participants who successfully complete each step of the hiring process will receive a conditional offer of employment.

• One year of active firefighter experience.
• FF II Certification VDFP, EFSAC, Pro-Board
• Hazmat Ops Certificate VDFP, IFSAC. Pro-Board
• EMT Certified (VA or National Registry)
• High School Diploma or GED
  

($5,000 SIGN-ON)
