Can we keep it real with you?We believe libraries should be places of inclusivity where ALL are welcomed, and where ALL board members make their best efforts to support taxpayers and library services FULLY. This is EXCEPTIONALLY true now, as current political measures from the federal government aim to attack library funding and further marginalize those whom society has historically ostracized.
The Collinsville and Fairmount libraries should NEVER be a place led by decisions that hurt constituents or the library's funding.
Below, you will see a link to review past Library Board meetings for yourself. We encourage to review those meetings.
In the past couple of months, and as recent as the last meeting (October), remarks and responses by several Board members lead to concerns about their abilities to support marginalized communities, as well as a question of how much of a tax levy they will support for the library at the November meeting, even when we KNOW that the highest ask only costs a couple of dollars per taxpayer.
The libraries in our district keep meeting needs, and even more so now as other government services continue to close. We need YOU to show UP in November so the Board KNOWS we SUPPORT OUR LIBRARIES - PILLARS IN OUR COMMUNITIS AND PLACES OF SAFETY AND BELONGING FOR ALL.
PLEASE WEAR GREEN ON NOV. 17th TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!
ASK FOR THE BOARD TO EMBRACE THE TOP DOLLAR FOR THE TAX LEVY, AND TO SUPPORT PROGRAMMING FOR ALL IN THE COMMUNITY!

📚✨ We will continue to ask for:
1️⃣ 4 minutes for public comment each instead of the current 3.
2️⃣ Bias & Diversity training— to be scheduled by January 2026.
3️⃣ Full embracing of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC programming.
4️⃣ The resignation of any Board member who has made clear they are not willing to work on making the library a safe place for LGBTQ+ or BIPOC community members. (I.E. Denial of programming for a specific community...)
