Join us for an interactive and empowering Mutual Aid Workshop on Saturday, April 5th! This workshop is designed to help us build stronger, more resilient communities by learning how to support each other during disasters and everyday challenges. In this hands-on session, we’ll explore:
✨ What Mutual Aid is – and why it’s different from charity.
✨ Historic examples of mutual aid in action, from the Black Panthers to Occupy Sandy.
✨ Practical skills for disaster preparedness and community organizing.
✨ Intersectional approaches to disaster relief that center marginalized voices.
✨ How to create affinity groups and build networks of care and solidarity.
This workshop is for everyone – whether you’re new to mutual aid or have been involved for years. Together, we’ll engage in fun, fast-paced activities, meaningful discussions, and collaborative exercises to help us envision how we can support each other in times of crisis and beyond.
What to Expect:
✅ Interactive games and group activities.
✅ Opportunities to share your experiences and learn from others.
✅ A chance to connect with like-minded folks in your community.
✅ Light snacks and refreshments provided.
Why Attend?
Disasters – whether natural or man-made – are becoming more frequent. But we don’t have to wait for the next crisis to start building the world we want to see. Mutual aid is about creating systems of care, solidarity, and resilience that empower us to meet our own needs and support each other.
Who Should Come?
This workshop is open to all! Whether you’re part of an existing group, want to build capacity in your community, or are just curious about mutual aid, this is a great place to start.
