We are excited to announce our upcoming MAY guest speaker, Lisa MerrelDaughter. The Tomato Man’s Daughter Heirloom Plant Nursery
Topic: How Does Your Garden Grow?
Tips for growing in Oklahoma’s Challenging Climate
Thirty-three years ago, Darrell Merrell, later known as the Tomato Man, became a regional pioneer in heirloom plants in Tulsa, OK. In 2003, I moved to Tulsa to work with my dad as my interest in sustainable agriculture and local foods had been sparked while living in Seattle, WA. I only wish I’d had more time with him before his passing 2008. I knew I wanted to carry forward his tradition of offering great plants and great advice.
Our nursery is open seasonally to the public where we are proud to offer Oklahoma’s largest collection of heirloom vegetable plants. My crew and I are dedicated to continuing Dad’s legacy of serving gardeners, seasoned and brand new, urban and rural. It is our absolute pleasure to provide a space of learning and sharing for everyone and have fun while we are doing it!
This event is FREE for the public to attend on Thursday, MAY 28, 2026 @ 10AM located at the MLK Community Center.
