About this Event

What's great about this workshop is it works for really new musical improvisers, really experienced musical improvisers, and everyone in between.

We know the bridge can be used for the “what if” - an alternate perspective in a song, but that’s only the beginning.

In this workshop, we’ll use the bridge for environmental interaction, dance breaks, sound effects, embodying a gift to the fullest, time jumps, epilogues, narration, or even doing the thing we’ve been singing about!

In smaller, two-person scenes, larger group scenes, and opening numbers, we’ll explore the bridge as a theatrical, fun element that takes any scene and song to the next level.

About the Instructors:

Maria Nally (she/her) is an improviser, coach, and actor who has been performing in New York City for several years. In 2025, she made her Off-Broadway debut in The Others of Oz: The Improvised Musical, and performs musical improv regularly at The Magnet Theater with her house team Houndstooth.

Maria has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Missouri State University where she studied with Lisa Brescia, Ann Marie Daehn, and Robert Westenberg, amongst others. Past roles (in case you’re curious) have included Sister Act (Sister Mary Robert), Legally Blonde (Vivienne Kensington), and lots of other classic high belters.

Offstage, she is a huge fan of Robert Caro. If you’ve read his books, she would love to talk with you about them. If you haven’t read his books, she highly recommends them.

Max Feldman is a musician originally from New Jersey now living in Brooklyn. He loves to play piano for teams in the musical improv community which has brought him to the Magnet Theater, UCB, Brooklyn Comedy Collective, Caveat, the PIT, and more.

As a composer, he has made music for theater, podcasts, art installations, and his own albums of experimental music. He is very lucky to get to make up songs with the incredible voices of Hell Yeah!
