Collingswood Community Theater is holding a one-night only musical comedy cabaret fundraiser. It’s going to be an evening of comedy songs, drinks, and other fun(d) stuff in the Collingswood Grand Ballroom.Who can audition?
Anyone 18 or older who has been part of a previous CCT show.
What’s the deal?
We are asking folks to audition with a comedic song they would like to sing at the cabaret. This can be a song from a musical or it could be a funny pop song, a Weird Al or Lonely Island hit, or anything as long as it is 1) a song 2) funny.
If you’re accepted into the cabaret, we’ll ask you to perform the song you auditioned with (though we may ask some folks to change in the event that the song doesn’t quite fit the theme or you did the same piece as someone else who also got in).
You can audition solo or with one or more other people as a duet, trio, flash mob, whatever.
We’re only going to be able to accept between 10 and 20 acts for the cabaret to keep the night tight and entertaining.
What’s the commitment?
If you’re accepted into the cabaret, we’re expecting you to rehearse your song at home and have it performance ready by the rehearsals. You must be available on these dates and times:
-Tuesday September 15th from 6:30PM to 9:30PM (rehearsal at Collingswood Community Center)
-Wednesday September 16th from 6:30PM to 9:30PM (rehearsal at Collingswood Community Center)
-Friday September 18th from 6:00PM to 10:00PM (the actual fundraiser in Collingswood Grand Ballroom)
How do I audition?
There are two methods available to you.
1. You can send us a video audition! Record yourself doing your number and then send it to us through the sign up form. Video auditions are due by Monday June 22nd at 9PM. If you’re accepted into the cabaret, we will ask you to provide sheet music for your song so that our pianist can practice for you.
2. You can come do an in-person audition. In-person auditions are happening Tuesday June 23rd from 6 to 9PM in the Collingswood Community Center living room. You can sign up early using the online audition form and walk-ins are also welcome. You must bring sheet music for your song so our accompanist can play with you.
