Relic, an acclaimed 11-piece Baroque orchestra, presents “The Spheres,” an hour-long cosmic journey with live music and stunning planetary projections in the HRM Planetarium. Performed on historical instruments including the harpsichord and theorbo, the concert features music by Lully, Vivaldi, Handel, and Bach, and takes us to each of the seven celestial spheres recognized in antiquity: the Moon, Venus, Mercury, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
Lauded as “stylish and innovative” (New York Classical Review), Relic is a period instrument chamber orchestra that brings early music to life through intimate, dramatic, and boldly imaginative performances of Baroque music. Founded in 2022, Relic has developed a distinctive narrative-driven approach to programming: each performance is structured around thematic “chapters” that unite diverse repertoire into a compelling musical journey, offering audiences both emotional impact and historical insight. This creative framework has become a signature of the ensemble’s identity, garnering a growing national reputation for originality and accessibility.
