MUSIC TO MY EYES: YOUTH ART PROJECT
Overview
Music to My Eyes brings together young artists from across the Long Beach Unified School District and youth participants from Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital for a multidisciplinary exploration of music and paint.
The Project
Each artist is randomly assigned a song — ideally one unfamiliar to them — drawn from “greatest songs of all time” lists spanning jazz, hard rock, classical, and the Great American Songbook. Their task: paint exactly what the music inspires.
The Process
Artists are encouraged to keep their assigned track on repeat, letting the song guide their work from first listen to final brushstroke.
The Result
The full collection debuts at our exhibition this November - original works from talented young artists across our city and from the heart of Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital.
Music to My Eyes represents the true power of music.
