In January, we are excited to feature Bhai Harpinder Singh and his team, who bring the rich tradition of Sikh devotional music to life through Indian classical artistry and heartfelt kirtan. The performance will also showcase the talents of students from the Sikh Society Regina, highlighting traditional instruments such as the harmonium, tabla, rabab, and dilruba, offering a rich and authentic musical experience.
About the Musicians:
Bhai Harpinder Singh serves as the head musician at the Sikh Society Regina, where he, alongside Bhai Bikramjit Singh, teaches harmonium and tabla to students on the weekends. Their dedication to preserving and promoting Sikh musical traditions is evident in their work with the youth, fostering a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of kirtan. They are two of the very few Sikh musicians, commonly known as Raagis, who have the honour of performing kirtan inside the Golden Temple on a regular basis. Their profound knowledge of Indian classical music, combined with their remarkable ability to compose original pieces, sets them apart as exceptional artists in their field. Both are currently based in Regina.
