CANDICE IVORY’S NEW SOUTHERN VINTAGE
Grammy-nominated artist Candice Ivory, creator of the musical genre Avant Soul, presents a concert of jazz, blues, and her own approach to genre. Raised near Memphis, Tennessee, and having performed as a teenager with Beale Street legends Billy Gibson and Calvin Newborn, Ivory’s work is steeped in the Mississippi Delta musical tradition. Her 2023 album, When the Levee Breaks: the Music of Memphis Minnie, a collaboration with Charlie Hunter, was nominated for Best Emerging Artist Award at the Blues Music Awards.
