Step into the Splendour of the 17th-Century English Court
Join us for an immersive journey into the opulent and intrigue-laden world of the 17th-century English court, where courtiers and favourites vied for power alongside ambassadors, patronage-seekers, and potential suitors. Amidst the grandeur, court masques—lavish spectacles blending music, dance, and allegory—became the stage where influence was paraded and suitability was showcased.
The evening’s performance will weave together period songs and tunes, complementing readings by acclaimed author Lucy Hughes-Hallett from her recent biography of George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham-courtier, favourite, and celebrated dancer.
