Music@Lunchtime: Martin Woods

Martin Woods is an accomplished young traditional musician from Swinford, Co. Mayo, and the current All-Ireland Under-18 Banjo Champion, having previously won first place in mandolin at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. A talented, performer with traditional approach, Martin spent a year living on Inis Oírr, where he immersed himself in the Irish language and culture, developing a strong connection to the traditions of the Gaeltacht.
Despite his young age, he has already toured extensively across Europe this year and is set to return again in July. Known for his energetic playing and traditional approach to the tenor banjo, Martin is regarded as one of the most promising young musicians in the traditional Irish music scene.
Martin will perform at Ballina Arts Centre on June 24th as part of the Music@Lunchtime series of free concerts, taking place at 1.15pm every Wednesday throughout June, July, and August.
