The Blue Jays classical vocal quartet performs Franco Flemish selections on Sundays in February as a nod to our current exhibition Saints, Sinners, Lovers, and Fools: 300 Years of Flemish Masterworks.

About the Collaborators:
Lauren Florek
Filipino-American Soprano Lauren Florek brings honesty and authenticity to a variety of musical genres. Recent roles include Frasquita in Carmen, The Queen of the Night (cover) in The Magic Flute and Deb in the contemporary musical Ordinary Days. Last season she was commissioned to record her debut solo album “Sing a Song of Seasons,” a song cycle of 24 songs by Robert Rogler. Florek is passionate about the study of Filipino Classical music and co-founded Duo Filipino, an ensemble committed to sharing Filipino culture and history through Filipino classical music. She holds a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance from DePaul University and a Master’s in Vocal Performance from the Longy School of Music.
Cristina Evans
Cristina Evans is a mezzo-soprano with a historically informed background in Renaissance polyphony and early Baroque opera and oratorio. She began her studies in vocal performance at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Afterward, she headed to Cambridge, Massachusetts to pursue a Masters in Music in Historical Performance at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. While there, she studied voice under Pamela Dellal and lute under Douglas Freundlich. She currently works in museum education, and enjoys spending time with her pet snake, Ringo.
Cameron Dobson
Cameron Dobson is a classically-trained mezzo-sopranist countertenor with the personal background of jazz, pop and chaos when it comes to creating and pushing the boundaries of music performance. A native of the southwestern KCK metro, they attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and the Longy School of Music of Bard College, to further broaden his scope of music. He has performed choral works, oratorios and cantatas, operas and Broadway shows, solo works and arrangements from the well-known, the obscure and the up and coming composers local and abroad.
Carlo Bunyi
Filipino baritone Carlo Bunyi is a Boston-based soloist and teacher whose dedication to his craft and stylistic versatility has led him to explore a diversified range of musical activities both domestically and internationally. Select performances include Tonio in I Pagliacci, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana, Dancairo in Carmen, Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Snug in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cesare Angelotti in Tosca, Timur in Turandot. Bunyi is a founding member of Filipino vocal ensemble Pasipo, and an artistic member of the Lyric Opera of the Philippines. He holds Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education from the Longy School of Music of Bard College and a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from the University of Santo Tomas (Manila, Philippines). Bunyi is the music teacher at South Boston Catholic Academy and is currently a cantor at the Divine Mercy Parish in Quincy, MA.
