About this Event
During the season of Lent, Music for the Soul brings together sacred works from the Renaissance and early Baroque that reflect on loss, prayer, and hope.
The programme is framed by movements from the Requiem by Jacobus Clemens non Papa, and includes music by Alonso Lobo, Thomas Tallis, Jan Dismas Zelenka and Heinrich Schütz. From the restrained intensity of the Lamentations to the clarity and directness of Schütz’s sacred motets, the music traces a path through sorrow towards consolation.
For this concert, the ensemble is joined by two guest singers, allowing the full texture of six-part writing to be heard. Together, they present an hour of vocal music that invites stillness, focus, and reflection at the heart of Lent.
